You can change the way that questions in a survey are displayed. By maximizing the use of screen space, you can improve the usability of your survey and collect information more quickly.
By default, all questions in a survey are displayed on one screen. Use the following optional techniques to maximize screen space:
Use one screen for each part of the survey.
In the Explorer panel, click Cases, and then click the case type that you want to open.
On the Life cycle tab, click a Survey step.
In the Navigation type list, select Plain.
Select the Run as screenflow check box.
In the Screenflow type list, select an option to indicate how the questions are distributed across multiple screens.
For example, you can use one screen for each question.
Optional: To add navigation links to the screen, select the Show bread crumb check box.
Hide supporting information that is unnecessary.
Click Designer Studio > Case Management > Survey to open the Survey Management landing page.
On the Question pages tab, click the name of a question page.
In the Edit question page dialog box, select the Hide label check box.
Select the Hide instructions check box.
Click Save.
Display radio buttons in rows instead of columns.
Click Designer Studio > Case Management > Survey to open the Survey Management landing page.
On the Questions tab, click the name of a question with Question type set to Radio buttons.
In the Edit question dialog box, expand the Answer presentation settings section.
In the Display of radio buttons list, select Horizontal.
Optional: To control how many radio buttons are displayed in each row, enter an integer in the Number of items before wrap field.
Click Save.
Change the answer layout for each question to display the answer fields next to the question text instead of below the question text.
Click Designer Studio > Case Management > Survey to open the Survey Management landing page.
On the Questions tab, click the name of a question.
In the Edit question dialog box, expand the Answer presentation settings section.
In the Answer layout list, select Question and Answer adjacent to each.
Click Save.
Conditionally display content so that users provide answers only for those questions that are specific to their context.
You can conditionally display the following items:
Refresh the survey each time that a user provides an answer so that the logic that supports your validation, warnings, and conditional display of questions is reevaluated.
Click Designer Studio > Case Management > Survey to open the Survey Management landing page.
Click the name of your survey.
Click the name of a question.
In the Edit question dialog box, select the Refresh based on previous answer check box.
Click Save.
Note: You must purchase a separate license before using survey functionality in your application.
